HT RESERVOIR BAIT, TIPS

Spottail shiner has been stocked and is prey for smallmouth.
Length: 2-4 inches [5-10 cm]
Coloring: silvery over pale olive on the back; sides silvery, belly white; clear fins except for a black spot at the base of the caudal fin

Emerald shiners have also been stocked, but are more of prey for walleye.
Length to 3½"
Coloration: emerald green back, distinctive silver lateral band, white belly

Berkley Power Grub is good.

Berkley Gulp Shaky Worm also good.

Brown tube jig.

Smallmouth lie at 12 to 15 feet along the secondary banks and in coves on the western shore. Rip rap areas for crawdads.

Spring - As temps warm to 50 degrees, work rock points and secondary shorelines. As temps reach 60 degrees, they spawn in the coves. Post spawn, they return to the secondary shore lines. Use top water baits. http://searchwarp.com/swa21137.htm
Summer - Deeper water off tapering points of rock. Use jerk baits here. (http://www.bassdozer.com/articles/crawford/jerkbait.shtml ) Fish early morning, dark cloudy days or late evenings.
WALLEYE TIPS
Spring - Crank baits off mud lines and offshore rock piles.
Summer - Vertical jigging to deep rocks and over rip rap. From the shore, try Satanka Cove in Inlet Bay and east shore of South Bay.
